Barcelona
Like many other cities on the Mediterranean, Barcelona was founded by the Romans. The original settlement, called Barcino, was a small port located on the same spot as today’s cathedral.Barcelona’s history is seen everywhere in the city. The oldest areas are located by the sea, including the shopping enclave Barri Gotic. On the other side of the main boulevard, La Rambla, lies the legendary Raval district.
Spanish hockey competitiveness is in direct proportion to the hugely successful implementation of their youth strategy. Spanish are not only technically proficient, they are taught to understand the nuances of group tactical actions.
Dubrovnik
Few places in the world master the mix of young and modern with the medieval and baroque better than Dubrovnik. The city naturally revolves around the Old Town which is inside the city walls. Outside the city walls, modern Dubrovnik offers everything you would expect from a Mediterranean country. Dubrovnik is well worth a visit any time of the year, but, naturally, spring and summer brings out the best in the city.
Dubrovnik, like South Africa , is a sports mad society. Of all the sports, that can win the hearts and minds of the people, water polo sits at the top of the pile. Waterpolo is simply part of the fabric of life in Dubrovnik. If you visit in summer, you may be lucky enough to watch the famous ‘wild’ league which is an event in itself.
Split
Nestled on the Adriatic coast lies the remaining vestiges of the roman architecture , perfectly preserved for posterity. Where once Roman soldiers roamed the streets, today Split is a popular tourist destination. In summer, it transforms into a meeting point for both sun seekers and international visitors alike.
